per Garnier and Delamare dictionary, the term "cataract" comes from
what we formerly believed was due to the fall of mood on the eyes (from
Greek " katarraktès" = waterfall).
He defines it as follows: "Ocular affection leading to lens crystalline opacity or of that of its capsule"
Different forms
We distinguish "senile cataract" and "endocrinal cataract", cortical cataract, localised within the peripheral layers.
The crystalline lens can make itself opaque up to decreasing visual sharpness to 6 / 10th, even less!
One should know when aging, the human being can be reached by many disorders such as:

Normally, the crystalline lens is transparent up to 40 years old but beyond that, it becomes normal that the crystalline lens becomes opaque, helped in that by various substances and products like tobacco, anti-inflammatory treatments, nutritional deficiencies, exposures to ultraviolet rays in sunny countries,...
The disease may be seen through accommodation difficulties making us think of a myopia. The increase in the refraction capacity may result in correcting temporarily a presbyopia, thus allowing a person between 65 - 75 years old who is suffering from it to be able to read without glasses again!
